Prescott posts proposal for higher solid-waste fees

The City of Prescott posted a public notice June 26, 2026, proposing an increase to solid-waste service fees for residential and commercial collection. The notice was issued under Arizona law and covers both household and business customers.

The notice represents a proposal, not an adopted rate change. It does not state the proposed fee amounts, an effective date, a hearing date or the City Council’s final action. As a result, the financial effect on Prescott households and businesses cannot yet be calculated. If the proposal is adopted, higher collection charges would increase recurring costs for residents and businesses.

The city has not identified a next council action or implementation date in the solid-waste notice. Residents and businesses will need a later city notice or council action for the proposal’s amounts and timing to become clear.

The city’s official News & Updates page separately lists an FY 2027 property-tax hearing and consideration notice. A July 14 council recap says funding was approved for new police and fire stations. Those entries concern separate city actions and do not establish a connection between the station funding and the solid-waste fee proposal.
