Rally Planned on Boston Common, Southie Parade Route Shift, and Record Warmth
Boston, MA – March 11, 2026 – Boston announces No Kings rally, Southie parade route shift, and record-breaking warmth before chill returns.
Boston is heading into mid-March with a mix of civic activism, parade preparations, and a dramatic weather swing.
No Kings Rally Set for Boston Common
Organizers of the ‘No Kings’ movement have announced a new rally on Boston Common scheduled for Saturday, March 28, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The coalition behind the effort says it expects a large turnout, following previous demonstrations that drew tens of thousands across Greater Boston.
The event will include speeches, performances, and participation from local advocacy groups. Supporters are also encouraged to line nearby streets ahead of the gathering in a coordinated show of solidarity.
South Boston Parade to Reverse Route
South Boston’s annual St. Patrick’s Day and Evacuation Day Parade will step off Sunday, March 15, at 11:30 a.m., beginning this year in Andrew Square. The 3.5-mile route will follow last year’s path in reverse.
Organizers say the change honors the 250th anniversary of Evacuation Day, commemorating the British departure from Boston in 1776. City officials are urging spectators to plan ahead for heavy crowds and potential MBTA service disruptions throughout the day.
Record Warmth Before a Cooldown
Tuesday brought an early taste of spring, with temperatures soaring to 74 degrees in Boston, setting a record for March 10. Parks, beaches, and the Charles River Esplanade filled with residents taking advantage of the sunshine after a long, snowy winter.
Forecasters say the warmth will not last. A backdoor cold front is expected to bring temperatures back down into the 40s and 50s, along with periods of rain and blustery conditions through the end of the week.
