Ramsey Daily Brief: Business Growth, Council Updates, and City Hiring
Ramsey, MN — February 7, 2026 — Business expansion, civic updates, and hiring headlines shape a busy winter weekend around the Mississippi here.
Ramsey Daily Brief: Business, Council, and Hiring Updates
Ramsey heads into the second weekend of February with fresh momentum on the jobs front, active policy work at City Hall, and new chances to work for the city.
Zero Zone expansion brings new investment
One of Ramsey’s largest employers is moving ahead with a major expansion that will add manufacturing space, lab areas, and offices on the city’s west side. Zero Zone Refrigeration is receiving a combined $800,000 in state financing to support an $11 million build-out of its local facility.
The project will add roughly 57,000 square feet and is expected to create about 55 new positions over the next two years. City economic development staff say the investment should boost the local tax base while reinforcing Ramsey’s role as a hub for advanced manufacturing and distribution.
Business leaders connect at annual EDA breakfast
City staff and local employers gathered January 28 for the Economic Development Authority’s annual Business Network Breakfast at the LaFontaine Event Center. More than 100 attendees heard updates on public safety and workplace culture, including remarks from the city’s police chief and organizational psychologist Theresa Glomb.
The event focused on building relationships between businesses and city officials, highlighting how data-driven policing, employee well-being, and steady infrastructure investment can support long-term growth in Ramsey.
Council refines animal and noise rules
City Council members recently reviewed updates to Ramsey’s animal regulations, including clearer limits on the types and numbers of animals allowed on different lot sizes. The proposed overhaul also streamlines how dangerous dog cases are handled and simplifies kennel licensing, with an eye toward making the code easier for residents to read and follow.
Council also advanced changes to the nuisance section of city code aimed at cutting down on loud engine-brake noise along key corridors. The update would explicitly prohibit the use of engine retarding brakes in city limits, with a follow-up vote scheduled for February 10.
City hiring in engineering and public works
The city is recruiting for multiple engineering roles as it prepares for another busy construction season. Openings include an Engineering Technician II position that splits time between office design work and field inspection, as well as a senior-level engineering post focused on leading capital projects.
Both jobs offer full-time schedules, comprehensive benefits, and application deadlines later this month, giving residents with technical backgrounds a chance to help shape Ramsey’s streets, utilities, and stormwater systems from the inside.
