Double Homicide Investigation
On January 30, 2026, Fall River police responded to a 911 call reporting a double shooting at 431 Barnes Street. Upon arrival, officers found Elizabeth Almeida, 54, and her son, Nicholas Almeida, 25, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, both victims were pronounced dead at the hospital. The suspect, 54-year-old Arlington Cole, was apprehended at the scene and charged with two counts of murder and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. Cole was reportedly in a dating relationship with Elizabeth Almeida. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Fall River District Court. The investigation is ongoing. Source
Fatal Shooting on Canal Street
In a separate incident, on February 1, 2026, Fall River police investigated a fatal shooting outside the Ship’s Cove Apartment complex at 130 Canal Street.
