San Jose police are investigating a deadly daytime shooting in a parking lot along El Paseo de Saratoga. Officers said a man and a woman were found dead at the scene, and the area was expected to stay closed for hours while detectives processed evidence and interviewed witnesses.

In a separate high-profile case tied to a string of armed robberies and a carjacking that spilled across multiple counties, the suspect’s family says he was in a mental health crisis and is now questioning how police searched their home. Public safety and enforcement

Police also announced an arrest in what they describe as a long-running burglary pattern hitting businesses and a place of worship in downtown and East San Jose. Investigators linked the suspect to about two dozen incidents dating back to 2024, with repeated break-ins and damage reported at several locations.
