Public safety: Teen arrested after Capitol Hill shooting and attempted carjacking

Seattle police say they arrested a 16-year-old early Thursday after shots were fired outside a Capitol Hill pizza shop and an Uber driver reported an attempted carjacking at gunpoint. Police said the business was hit by multiple rounds, and while no one reported being shot, some people were hurt by shattered glass. Investigators said a gun believed to be involved was recovered, and the teen was booked on multiple felony allegations as detectives continue reviewing evidence.

Travel: Weekend construction closures expected to ripple into Seattle trips

State transportation officials are warning of a rough regional travel weekend, with a full closure planned for State Route 522 at the I-405 interchange in Bothell from late Friday night into early Monday. Additional ramp closures are also planned along I-405 in Renton. The agency also noted that northbound I-5 through Seattle remains reduced to two lanes for ongoing work, and northbound SR 99 lane reductions continue near the First Avenue South Bridge area.

If you’re headed out of the city (or returning) between Friday night and Monday morning, it’s a good weekend to build in extra time and double-check your route before you go.

Transit: Link light rail service changes ahead, plus a major March milestone

Sound Transit has posted a new roundup of planned Link work that includes late-night service adjustments and bus replacements on select dates in early and mid-March. Separately, the agency and local coverage are pointing riders to March 28 as the opening day for the Crosslake Connection, which will link Seattle and the Eastside by light rail across Lake Washington, with celebrations planned around Judkins Park.
