Secaucus Daily: Police Arrests, Town Hall Updates, and Weekend Events
Secaucus, NJ — February 7, 2026 — Police report new auto theft arrests, Town Hall schedules holiday closure, and weekend events fill the local calendar.
Here’s a quick look at what’s happening in and around Secaucus this weekend and what residents should know for the week ahead.
Police link Jersey City pair to stolen car
Secaucus police say two young men from Jersey City have been charged in connection with a car stolen from Pikeview Terrace last November. A resident reported their Hyundai Elantra missing early on November 14, 2025, and officers soon found another Elantra nearby that had been reported stolen out of Jersey City.
Investigators later recovered the Secaucus resident’s car in Jersey City after a crash and, following a months-long investigation, identified two suspects. Detectives arrested the men at their homes on February 5, 2026. Both are charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and were taken to the county jail. Police emphasize that the charges are accusations and the men are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Town Hall holiday closure and winter resources
The town is reminding residents that municipal offices, including Town Hall and the annex on Centre Avenue, will be closed on Thursday, February 12, in observance of Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday. Normal business hours resume on Friday, February 13.
Local officials are also continuing to promote winter resources. Warming centers remain available during stretches of extreme cold, and the town has released a 2026 vaccination schedule along with options for homebound COVID and flu shots. Street sweeping and alternate-side parking rules are suspended through March 9, giving drivers a little more flexibility while snow and ice remain a concern.
Busy weekend and early-week events
Today’s calendar features a Drug Take Back event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving residents a safe place to dispose of unused or expired medication. This evening, a “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” Valentine mixtape performance offers a pre-holiday night out close to home.
On Sunday morning, an annual pancake breakfast is scheduled, a regular favorite for families and local groups. Early in the week, seniors have a bingo night on Monday, followed by a Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting that evening. On Tuesday, the Thomas Edison Film Festival comes through town for a midday program, adding a touch of statewide culture to the local schedule.
Essex–Hudson Greenway progress includes Secaucus
Regionally, work is moving ahead on the Essex–Hudson Greenway, a planned linear park that will eventually run from Essex County across the Passaic and Hackensack rivers into Hudson County. Recent updates highlight foundation work and other early construction along the future route.
When completed, the project is expected to connect communities including Secaucus with new walking and biking options and easier access to neighboring towns. Residents here may not see major changes immediately, but the long-term plan would add another recreational and commuting option on the western edge of the Meadowlands.
