Shoreview Daily Brief: Races, Dances and 2026 Projects
Shoreview, MN — February 7, 2026 — Runners hit Snail Lake trails, families celebrate at the Sweetheart Dance, and city crews advance 2026 projects.
Couple Shuffle race hits Snail Lake this morning
Valentine’s weekend arrives on the trails today as the Couple Shuffle race brings runners to Snail Lake Regional Park and the Grass Lake Nature Preserve in Shoreview. The event offers 2-mile, 5K, 10K and kids’ dash options, with a Valentine theme, photo stops and finish-line treats. Organizers bill it as a relaxed, family-friendly run, whether people race with a partner or on their own.
Drivers around Snail Lake Boulevard and the surrounding neighborhood can expect extra foot traffic around race time, and residents may see more visitors using park lots and nearby streets for parking.
Sweetheart Dance fills the community center with families
Last night, the Shoreview Community Center hosted its annual Sweetheart Dance for kids and their favorite adults. The evening featured a DJ, crafts and treats, turning the community center into a dressed-up dance floor for young families.
Tickets were sold in advance only, and the city positioned the event as a chance for kids to enjoy a special night out close to home instead of traveling across the metro. Staff say family events like this remain a key part of winter programming, especially while many residents are staying closer to their own neighborhoods during the current ICE enforcement climate.
Crews prepare for 2026 street and pond work
Off the trails and dance floor, the city is reminding residents about several utility and infrastructure projects planned in and around Shoreview. A 2026 watermain project will add two new segments between Milton Street and Target Lane, aimed at improving reliability in that corridor.
The 2026 Pond Maintenance Project, run in partnership with the Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District, will target four stormwater ponds for cleanup and repairs. A separate boardwalk replacement on County Road I between Lexington Avenue and Chatsworth Street is also on the books, along with planned sewer work and trail improvements in and near Snail Lake Regional Park.
For residents following public safety news, city leaders continue to point neighbors back to their January statements on federal immigration enforcement activity and on the January 25 home-invasion shooting in northern Shoreview, where suspects were quickly taken into custody.
On the neighborhood radar
Online, a Shoreview-based estate sale that opened Friday is drawing interest from bargain hunters across the metro, featuring midcentury furniture, rugs, tools and fitness gear. With that auction running into mid-February and more indoor events on the calendar, local officials are encouraging people to keep using city websites and event listings to track what is happening close to home.
