Minneapolis is digging out this St. Patrick’s Day after a powerful late-winter storm swept across the Upper Midwest.

Minnesota remains under a peacetime emergency declared March 13 as heavy snow and strong winds moved through the region. In Minneapolis, forecasters warned totals could reach well over a foot in some areas.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported more than 100 crashes statewide as conditions deteriorated over the weekend, including injury incidents. Airport operations were also disrupted ahead of the storm, with flight cancellations at Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport.
