South Euclid Daily Brief: Council, Recycling Updates, School Calendar
South Euclid, OH — February 7, 2026 — Council readies for Monday meeting as the city details 2026 recycling events and SEL Schools head into a busy February.
City Council prepares for Feb. 9 session
South Euclid City Council is scheduled to meet Monday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. at the Arnold C. D’Amico Community Center. The meeting will be available both in person and online, giving residents several options to follow city business.
Council is also advertising an at-large vacancy. The city has posted an application for residents interested in serving on council, with details about eligibility and how to apply. Neighbors who want a direct voice in policy and budgeting are being encouraged to consider stepping forward.
Agendas and minutes for recent and upcoming meetings are posted on the city’s website, which also includes information on how to join virtually. Residents who cannot attend in person can still watch discussion of legislation, development proposals, and neighborhood concerns.
City outlines 2026 recycling and cleanup dates
South Euclid is reminding households about the 2026 trash and recycling schedule as winter continues. Curbside collection will be delayed by one day on weeks that include New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
The city is also planning special collection events through the year. Campaign signs, computers, and holiday lights can be dropped off at the Service Center during posted hours, helping keep those items out of landfills. Residents will also have two free paper shred days in May and October, along with a late-summer window for tire disposal.
Officials emphasize that recycling and drop-off rules are tied to city ordinances, including limits on when containers can be left out on the tree lawn. The reminders are meant to cut down on litter, support cleaner streets, and make it easier for crews to complete their routes.
Schools look ahead to a busy February
The South Euclid–Lyndhurst City School District is heading into a full February schedule. The Board of Education’s next regular meeting is set for Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Brush High School Media Center, with an option to watch online.
The district calendar highlights several mid-month dates, including Presidents Day on Feb. 16, when schools will be closed, and a curriculum and instruction day on Feb. 25 with no classes for students. Families are being urged to review the online calendar so they can plan transportation and childcare.
District leaders also continue to share recent announcements, such as federal program updates and athletic conference changes, through their website. Community members who want to stay informed about school finances, academic planning, and extracurricular offerings are encouraged to follow the board’s meeting schedule and news page.
