Springfield police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred near the Missouri State University campus on Tuesday night. The incident resulted in two fatalities, and authorities are actively seeking information from the public to assist in their investigation.
Fatal Crash Near Avilla
A tragic one-vehicle accident took place on Liberty Road, approximately four and a half miles northeast of Avilla. Mike Wilkerson, 66, from Sarcoxie, was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle struck a highway sign and a concrete culvert. This marks the fourth fatality this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
