Highway 182 detours still shaping traffic
Drivers on the north side of Starkville are still feeling the impact of the temporary closure at the Highway 182 and Jackson Street intersection. The detour is part of a longโrunning revitalization project that is replacing underground utilities, rebuilding the roadway, and adding wider crosswalks and a bike path. City leaders say the current construction phase is expected to wrap up in early February, keeping the overall project on track for completion in 2027.๎cite๎turn0search5๎turn0search9๎
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time, follow posted detour signs, and remember that businesses in the work zone remain open with driveway access from both sides of Highway 182.

Starkville Parks and Recreation has a packed schedule today at Cornerstone Sports Complex and the Travis Outlaw Center. Multiple field rentals and tournament blocks are booked throughout the afternoon and into the evening at Cornerstone, signaling the start of a busy spring season for youth and travel sports.๎cite๎turn0search2๎
