Sunny Isles Beach Daily Briefing for February 7, 2026
Sunny Isles Beach, FL — February 7, 2026 — City crews continue utility work in Golden Shores as residents look ahead to events and an upcoming anniversary.
Sunny Isles Beach Daily Briefing
It is a quiet winter weekend on the barrier island, but there is still plenty happening behind the scenes at City Hall, on neighborhood streets, and along the beach.
Golden Shores utility work brings brief outages
City officials are reminding residents in the Golden Shores neighborhood that utility undergrounding work is still underway. As crews continue converting overhead service to underground lines, homes may see short daytime power interruptions on weekdays, generally between the late morning and afternoon hours.
The project is intended to improve reliability during storms and clean up the streetscape by removing older overhead infrastructure. Residents are encouraged to plan around the window for possible outages and to report any extended loss of service through their utility provider or the city’s main phone line.
Full city calendar keeps February busy
After a midweek stretch of activities, including bingo for seniors and an outdoor concert at Samson Oceanfront Park, the city is looking ahead to more services and gatherings next week. A Mini-FLOW visit from the state’s licensing team is scheduled at Gateway Center on February 9, offering help with driver licenses and ID renewals. Teen Talk returns February 10, giving local students a chance to share ideas for youth programs.
The city’s event calendar also shows recurring social programs, workshops and support sessions from state condominium regulators, reflecting the large number of condo and high-rise residents in Sunny Isles Beach. Many of these gatherings require or recommend advance registration, so residents are urged to check details before heading out.
Anniversary celebration on the horizon
Later this month, the city will mark its 29th anniversary with a carnival-inspired evening at Samson Oceanfront Park on February 28. The celebration will feature music, food and bright, festive attire on the sand as residents and visitors come together to recognize nearly three decades as an incorporated city.
Admission is free for Resident ID cardholders, while nonresidents will pay an admission fee. Wristbands will not be sold at the gate, and registration closes the day before the event, so locals who plan to attend are being encouraged to secure their bands early at Pelican Community Park.
Commission prepares for February meeting
The next regular City Commission workshop and meeting are scheduled for Thursday, February 19, with an afternoon workshop followed by an evening session in the Samson Commission Chambers at the Government Center.
Residents who cannot attend in person will still be able to follow the discussion live through the city’s cable channels and online stream. City leaders continue to point residents to these options so they can stay informed about development, public safety, finances and neighborhood quality-of-life issues from home.
