Tacoma Gas and Diesel Prices Rise Slightly as August Begins

Tacoma-area fuel prices moved slightly higher in AAA’s August 1, 2026, metro price check, with diesel rising faster than regular gasoline over the past week.

AAA listed regular gasoline at an average of $5.132 per gallon in the Tacoma metro area, up 0.2 cents from the previous daily check. Diesel averaged $6.335 per gallon, an increase of 1.1 cents.

Diesel is rising faster over the past week

The weekly comparison shows a wider gap between the two fuels. Regular gas is 2 cents higher than it was a week earlier, while diesel is up 5.4 cents per gallon. That gives diesel the sharper recent increase, even though both averages remain close to their previous daily levels.
