Teach-Out Deal, TV Blackout and MAC Tournament Lead Toledo Headlines
Toledo, OH – March 11, 2026 – University of Toledo inks Lourdes teach-out deal, 13abc dropped by DISH, and Rockets head to MAC tourney.
It has been a busy few days across Toledo, with major developments in higher education, local television access and college basketball.
UToledo Finalizes Teach-Out Agreement
The University of Toledo has signed a comprehensive teach-out agreement with Lourdes University, creating a pathway for Lourdes students to complete their degrees as Lourdes prepares to close at the end of the 2025-26 academic year.
The agreement is designed to minimize disruption for students, allowing many to transfer credits seamlessly and continue their programs locally. University leaders say the goal is to provide stability and academic continuity during what could otherwise be a difficult transition for hundreds of students in the region.
DISH Customers Lose Access to 13abc
Thousands of Toledo-area viewers who rely on DISH Network lost access to 13abc and ABC programming this week following a carriage dispute. The blackout took effect March 10.
The disruption means DISH subscribers can no longer watch local ABC news, weather and network shows through the provider. Viewers are being encouraged to explore alternative viewing options, including over-the-air antennas and other streaming or cable services, while negotiations continue.
Rockets Head to Cleveland for MAC Tournament
On the court, the Toledo men’s basketball team enters the Mid-American Conference Tournament as the No. 4 seed. The Rockets will face rival Bowling Green in the quarterfinal round March 12 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
The women’s team also begins tournament play this week as the No. 6 seed, adding to an already high-energy stretch for Toledo athletics. Both teams are looking to build momentum and extend their postseason runs.
City Seeks Public Input on Annual Action Plan
The City of Toledo has announced upcoming public hearings and a formal comment period for its 2026-2027 One-Year Action Plan. The plan outlines how federal housing and community development funds will be used in the coming year.
Residents will have opportunities later this month and into April to review proposals and submit feedback before the plan is finalized.
