Temple Terrace Daily: Trucks, Library Fun, and Safety Focus
Weekend events: trucks, books, and family time
Families have a full slate of free activities in Temple Terrace today. The Touch A Truck and Temple Terrace Reads event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greco Middle School sports fields, giving kids a chance to explore city vehicles, meet first responders, and pick up books and reading resources.
Organizers are pairing hands-on fun with literacy tables, book giveaways, and information on local reading programs, making it a good option if you are looking for something kid-friendly close to home.
Library highlights for Saturday
The Temple Terrace Public Library keeps the momentum going this afternoon with its Family Creative Corner at 2 p.m. The weekly drop-in program offers rotating activities, from puzzles and coloring to building toys and board games, designed for all ages with caregivers present.
This weekend’s line-up follows a busy stretch at the library that included teen craft workshops and a Super Bowl trivia contest for adults on Friday, part of a broader effort to make the building a regular social stop for residents, not just a place to borrow books.
Traffic safety emphasis continues this month
On the public safety front, the Temple Terrace Police Department is midway through an enhanced traffic enforcement partnership with state transportation officials. The initiative, which runs through February 28, increases officer presence on state roads with higher crash rates and pairs it with education on speeding, distraction, and seat belt use.
Drivers can expect to see more patrols along key corridors in and around the city this month. Police leaders say the focus is on visibility and voluntary compliance, especially during busy weekends when events and visitors bring extra cars onto local streets.
Looking ahead
City staff are also promoting a yearlong “Celebrate What’s Next” campaign, meant to build on the community pride of last year’s centennial with fresh events and storytelling throughout 2026.
Residents can watch the city calendar for more themed gatherings later this winter, including the Polar Plunge at the Family Recreation Complex next Friday evening and additional library and board meetings that shape Temple Terrace life week to week.
