Tigard Voters Reject Bond for Police, Public Works Facility
Tigard voters rejected a bond measure May 19 that would have financed a new facility shared by the Tigard Police Department and Tigard Public Works. The vote leaves the proposed replacement unfunded and keeps the cityโs aging municipal buildings in use while officials reconsider how to address the departmentsโ facility needs.
The measure was decided in the May 2026 election. It would have provided financing for one combined building serving two city operations: Police and Public Works. The existing buildings were described as aging, overcrowded and inefficient.
The May 19 result removed the proposed bond as the cityโs available path to financing the new facility. Tigard therefore does not have the replacement building proposed in the measure, and no construction schedule follows from the defeated bond.
