Tualatin Daily Briefing: Scouts, Seniors, and Weekend Events
Tualatin, OR — February 7, 2026 — Scouts spruce up local parks, seniors plan ahead at upcoming resource fair, and the library leans into craft time.
Good morning, Tualatin. Here is a quick look at what’s happening around town as the first full weekend of February rolls along.
City pride and park projects
This month’s mayor’s note from the city highlights ten local Eagle Scout candidates who recently completed improvement projects in some of Tualatin’s best loved outdoor spaces. The Scouts repaired benches and masonry at Atfalati Park, reinforced fencing at Jurgens Park, refreshed the long stair climb on the Venetia Trail, and rebuilt fencing at Brown’s Ferry Park.
They also restored teak benches at the Lake of the Commons and even replaced a damaged mastodon tusk along the Tualatin River Greenway, with a spare now ready if it is ever needed again. City leaders are using the note to recognize the hundreds of volunteer hours that went into these efforts and to underline how much of the park system depends on community stewardship.
Planning ahead for aging in place
A new local health column out today encourages older adults and their families to build a “Peace of Mind Team” of professionals, relatives, and trusted friends who can help with housing, finances, health care, and day to day support. The piece is pegged to the upcoming Tualatin Senior Resource Fair, set for Saturday, March 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Living Savior Lutheran Church on SW Sagert Street.
The fair will bring together up to forty vendors and community groups, including the city’s aging task force and coffee and conversation group. Attendees can gather information, meet potential service providers, pick up free jigsaw puzzles, and enter light hearted prize drawings. Organizers say the goal is to make it easier for residents to stay independent and connected as they age.
Weekend library activities
The public library is leaning into hands on creativity today. A makerspace open lab session runs this morning, giving residents a chance to explore tools and technology, followed by a Super Saturday craft program in the afternoon focused on woven heart projects for kids and families. Both events are drop in and designed to be easy, no pressure ways to spend time together indoors.
Sports and safety notes
For those itching to move, the local indoor soccer facility reports that February field rental slots are limited but still available on select weekday evenings, with spring adult leagues and youth classes already accepting registrations for March and April sessions. Residents are encouraged to reserve early if they want guaranteed time on the turf.
Regionally, the fire and rescue district that serves Tualatin continues to spotlight recent apartment fires elsewhere in the service area and is promoting an upcoming board of directors meeting later this month. Officials use these updates to share safety reminders and keep the public informed about how the district is preparing for the rest of the winter season.
