TxDOT seeks public input on US 59 upgrade through Beeville toward future I-69
Beeville residents and businesses still have until 11:59 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, to comment on a proposed Texas Department of Transportation upgrade of US 59 through Live Oak and Bee counties.
TxDOT held an in-person open house July 23 at the Bee County Expo Center in Beeville. The public-comment period remains open, and comments received by the deadline will become part of the official public-meeting record.
What TxDOT proposes in Beeville
The approximately 16-mile project extends through Live Oak and Bee counties. The Beeville-area section runs from CR 303, also known as Viggo Road, to FM 351 in Beeville.
For that section, TxDOT proposes one additional travel lane in each direction, turn lanes, shoulders and sidewalks. The agency says the broader project is intended to improve mobility and safety while upgrading US 59 toward interstate standards as part of the future I-69 corridor.
US 59 should not be described as I-69 itself. TxDOT identifies the project as part of the future I-69 corridor.
Separate freeway proposal north of I-37
North of the interchange at I-37 to CR 303, TxDOT proposes a different roadway design: a four-lane freeway with mainlanes and frontage roads. That segment would initially be constructed as a divided highway with two travel lanes in each direction separated by a wide center median.
The northern segment is part of the broader Live Oak and Bee counties project, but it is separate from the proposed CR 303-to-FM 351 improvements in Beeville.
Right-of-way effects remain possible
TxDOT says the project would require additional right of way and could result in potential displacements, pending further detailed design. The meeting materials do not establish a final list of affected Beeville properties or businesses.
TxDOT says relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Property owners and businesses seeking information about relocation assistance, right-of-way acquisition or construction timing can contact the Corpus Christi District at 361-808-2374.

Project remains proposed
TxDOT anticipates that the work would be built in phases. The project remains in development, and environmental review, consultation and further design remain part of the process. The public meeting and comment period do not represent final approval, immediate construction funding or a final construction schedule.
