Weekend Roundup: Stadium Climb, State Gymnastics and Community Events Fill Columbus

Columbus wrapped up a packed weekend with thousands of residents turning out for athletic events, community gatherings and statewide competitions.

Fight for Air Climb at Ohio Stadium

Early Sunday morning, participants laced up their shoes for the annual Fight for Air Climb at Ohio Stadium. The event invited climbers to tackle the stadium steps in support of lung health and clean air initiatives.

Hosted at the iconic venue on Woody Hayes Drive, the climb brought together families, corporate teams and local advocates. Organizers say the event continues to grow each year, using the stadium setting to draw attention to respiratory health and community wellness.

State Gymnastics Meet Draws Competitors

Across town, young athletes competed in the 2026 Ohio Level 4-10 and XCEL Diamond and Sapphire State Meet, held March 20 through 22 at Kasich Hall. The statewide competition featured gymnasts from multiple clubs, with families filling the stands throughout the weekend.

The annual meet is a major milestone for many athletes, capping off months of training and offering a chance to qualify for higher-level events. Coaches and parents described the atmosphere as energetic and supportive as routines wrapped up Sunday.

Community Spotlight in German Village

On Saturday, residents gathered at the Schiller Community Center for Spotlight on Schiller, a neighborhood-focused event celebrating local programs and the history of Schiller Park. The event highlighted recreation opportunities and community resources available through Columbus Recreation and Parks.

Families explored booths, met staff and learned more about programming as spring activities begin to ramp up across the city.

With warmer weather settling in, Columbus appears poised for a busy stretch of outdoor events and competitions heading deeper into spring.
