West Long Branch approves NJDOT aid bid for Richard, Poplar and Linden
West Long Branch NJ – Council approved a July 1 resolution to apply for NJDOT Municipal Aid for Richard Lane, Poplar Avenue and Linden Avenue.
West Long Branch Borough Council approved Resolution R-26-93 on July 1 to submit an NJDOT Municipal Aid application for the MA-2027 Richard Lane, Poplar Avenue and Linden Avenue project. The measure also authorizes the mayor and borough clerk to sign the grant agreement if the state awards the request.
That does not mean the work is funded yet. NJDOT says Municipal Aid is a competitive local transportation grant program, with applications reviewed and rated on factors including existing conditions, traffic, safety and access to services.
Why it matters
For residents, this is the stage where the borough is trying to line up outside money for street improvements before any construction schedule exists. If NJDOT selects the project, the streets could eventually see repairs or upgrades; if not, the borough will need another funding path.
What happens next
Next is NJDOT’s review. For now, the key point is simple: West Long Branch has formally backed a grant bid for three neighborhood streets, but the award is still pending.
