Tree seedling giveaway opens for Arbor Day

Westmont residents can now sign up for the annual tree seedling giveaway organized by the Environmental Improvement Committee and Public Works. The program lets households reserve specific native seedlings online, with species available in limited quantities on a first come, first served basis. Pickups are scheduled for Arbor Day, Friday, April 24, at the Westmont Public Library on North Cass Avenue between 1 and 5 p.m.

County seeks input on local waterways

DuPage County Stormwater Management is inviting residents to comment on its Countywide Water Quality Program, which covers how stormwater is managed and discharged into local waterways. Westmont is one of more than 40 communities participating under a single federal stormwater permit, and officials say resident feedback will help shape public education, outreach and pollution prevention efforts. Comments will be accepted through February 17 via an online engagement page hosted by the county.

Dementia friendly programs at the library this spring

As an officially dementia friendly community, Westmont is rolling out a new series of programs at the public library this spring for people living with dementia, their care partners and anyone who wants to learn more. Upcoming sessions include a home safety and care options workshop on March 4, an Empowered Caregiver program on April 1, and a session on engaging loved ones with dementia on May 6. A monthly Memory Cafe, typically held on third Mondays, offers a relaxed space to socialize and connect. Registration for all of these events opens Monday, February 16, at 9 a.m. through the library.

Looking ahead to Spring Fling downtown

Village officials are also highlighting early details for the 2026 Spring Fling Festival, which will shift to West Quincy Street in downtown Westmont over Memorial Day weekend, May 21 through 24. The free, family focused festival is expected to feature live music, food and craft vendors, a full carnival and a Saturday night fireworks show. The move downtown is tied to the 90th anniversary year of the Westmont Lions Club, which partners with the village on major community events.
