Whitehall, OH — February 8, 2026 — City meetings, community events and Rams sports fill a quiet news weekend with ways to plug into local life.
Whitehall Daily Brief: City meetings, community open house and Rams sports
Whitehall stays relatively quiet on the breaking-news front this weekend, but there is plenty on the calendar for residents who want to stay plugged in locally.
City Council: Work session coming up Tuesday
The city’s calendar shows Whitehall City Council committees back at work on Tuesday, February 10, with an evening meeting at City Hall on South Yearling Road. An agenda and voting session is also scheduled for February 17, followed by another committee night on February 24, giving residents several chances this month to follow decisions on local policy, services and development.
Agendas and supporting documents for these meetings are posted online through the city’s agenda center, so residents can read proposed legislation in advance or revisit what was discussed after the fact. It is a good time to sign up for city notifications if you want email alerts when new council packets are published.
Community: Open house and Valentine’s “Day of Love”
Midweek, the Whitehall Rise Community Open House on Wednesday, February 11, will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on North Hamilton Road. The event is set up as a drop-in forum where neighbors can learn more about the Whitehall Rise initiative and talk with staff about future plans for the city.
Looking ahead to next weekend, the city is hosting a “Day of Love” celebration on Saturday, February 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall. Officials are offering short wedding and commitment ceremonies for couples who sign up in advance, with limited spaces available on a first-come basis.
Schools: Busy stretch for Rams athletics
Whitehall City Schools have a packed week of high school sports. On Tuesday, February 10, girls basketball hosts Columbus School for Girls while the boys team faces Bexley. A wrestling meet follows on Wednesday, February 11, and additional boys and girls basketball games carry through the end of the week, including matchups with Licking Valley, Bishop Ready and Johnstown.
Families can check the district’s online calendar for any last-minute changes and for details on game times and locations. The athletics schedule offers several easy, low-cost chances to support local students and reconnect with neighbors in the stands.
Stay connected
With formal council work, community planning and school events all clustered into the coming week, this is a good moment to double-check that your contact information is current with both the city and the school district. Email lists and text alerts remain the fastest way to learn about meeting changes, new initiatives and any urgent advisories.
