Utilities reported widespread outages across Ohio, with crews working through the weekend to restore service. Fallen trees and debris were reported in several neighborhoods, and residents were urged to use caution while traveling.
Loud Boom Shakes the Area
Early Tuesday morning, many Cleveland residents reported hearing and feeling a loud boom that rattled windows and homes across a wide stretch of Northeast Ohio.
According to reports circulating locally, the National Weather Service indicated the sound may have been caused by a meteor fireball breaking apart in the atmosphere, creating a sonic boom. Social media quickly filled with accounts from residents describing shaking houses and startled pets. Officials have not reported injuries or damage linked to the incident.
MAC Tournament Wraps at Rocket Arena
Downtown Cleveland was packed with college basketball fans as the Mid-American Conference men’s tournament concluded March 14 at Rocket Arena.
Akron claimed the championship title, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The multi-day event brought teams and fans into the city, continuing Cleveland’s long-standing role as host for major conference tournaments.
