Wilton’s Cannon Road Bridge project advances toward 2026 construction planning

Wilton’s Route 33/Cannon Road bridge replacement is advancing toward construction planning, with the Connecticut Department of Transportation identifying the project for 2026 work and the Town of Wilton reporting that design is approximately 90% complete.

The town’s March 13, 2026, capital-project update lists the project at an estimated cost of $6,574,540 and shows authorization to bid. It also estimates a construction start in 2026 and completion in 2028. Those milestones describe the current plan, not a completed project or a guarantee that construction will proceed on that schedule.

Bridge replacement over the Norwalk River

CTDOT identifies the project as 0161-0145 Wilton. The work would replace the Cannon Road bridge over the Norwalk River in Wilton. CTDOT’s project information anticipated construction beginning in spring 2026, subject to funding, right-of-way acquisition and permits.
