Worcester adds June bulk-waste drop-off hours in Millbury Street pilot
Worcester is adding Thursday and Friday bulk-waste appointments in June at the Millbury Street center, giving residents more weekday access during a pilot.
Worcester is adding bulk-waste appointment slots for June at its Residential Drop-Off Center on Millbury Street, turning the change into a short-term pilot rather than a permanent shift. For residents cleaning out apartments, homes, or rental units, the practical effect is simple: more weekday options.
According to the city, the June 2026 schedule will add Thursday and Friday appointments at the center, in addition to the regular Wednesday and Saturday access. The posted hours are Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The site will be closed June 19 for Juneteenth.
The city says the pilot is meant to make disposal easier and help discourage illegal dumping. Worcester also says it will evaluate the program after June and decide whether the expanded hours should become permanent.
The Residential Drop-Off Center is for residents only. Worcester says proof of residency is required, commercial sources are not accepted, and appointments are required for bulk waste drop-offs. Payment is by check or exact cash only, with no change available on site.
For Worcester residents who are trying to get rid of large items the right way, the main takeaway is straightforward: June brings more appointment flexibility at 1065 Millbury Street, but the resident-only rules still apply.
