FAA’s final 2025 airport traffic totals remain scheduled for late August

The Federal Aviation Administration had not released final 2025 passenger and cargo totals for U.S. airports as of Aug. 10, 2026. The agency says the final calendar-year figures will become available in late August and will be used to determine fiscal-year 2027 airport categories and related federal funding calculations.

The FAA’s passenger and cargo statistics page was updated July 15. It says preliminary passenger data became available in June, with that file updated July 8. The preliminary cargo file was updated July 9. The agency has not provided a specific day for the final release beyond the late-August timeframe.

The final data will support airports’ category and entitlement calculations, including funding tied to the Airport Improvement Program and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The FAA separately says all-cargo data is used to determine fiscal-year 2027 Airport Improvement Program cargo entitlement funds.

For now, the FAA’s preliminary commercial-service table ranks Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International first with 51,459,786 enplanements, followed by Dallas-Fort Worth with 41,297,009 and Chicago O’Hare with 40,680,735. Those figures and rankings remain preliminary. The next known step is the FAA’s expected late-August publication of the final passenger and all-cargo tables.
