The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles said all of its offices were closed Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, for Columbus Day and were scheduled to reopen Tuesday, Oct. 13. The one-day closure applied statewide to people seeking in-person DMV services. The West Virginia Legislatureโs 2026 information packet also lists Oct. 12 as Columbus Day.
During the closure, the DMV said many services were available online or at kiosks around the state. The agency did not identify which services could be handled through either option, so the notice did not establish that every transaction was available remotely.
