Wisconsin voters approved a constitutional amendment limiting the governor’s partial veto power, according to Associated Press results published by Wisconsin Public Radio.
The unofficial AP tally showed 1,302,896 yes votes (50.7%) and 1,266,838 no votes (49.3%), with an estimated 98% of votes counted.
The amendment prohibits using a partial veto to create or increase taxes or fees. It limits future vetoes and does not reverse Gov. Tony Evers’s existing 400-year school-revenue veto, Wisconsin Public Radio reported.
