Oakland Museum of California Announces February 2026 Events
The Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) has unveiled a series of public programs and events for February 2026, offering a vibrant lineup of cultural celebrations and community gatherings.
25th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration
On Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 11 am to 4 pm, OMCA will host its 25th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration, marking the Year of the Horse. The event will feature:
- Vibrant performances spanning Korean, Filipino, Vietnamese, and Chinese traditions.
- Family-friendly storytelling and hands-on activities.
- Delicious food from local AAPI chefs.
- Opportunities to support AAPI artisans.
Festival access begins at 11 am, with activities and performances starting at 12 pm. Parking is available in OMCA’s Oak Street Garage for a day rate of $10; overflow event parking is available at Alco Park (165 13th Street) for the day rate of $7. ASL Interpretation for OMCA Garden stage will be provided.
Spotlight Sundays: Total Praise—The Making of the Black Joy Parade
On Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 1 to 2:30 pm, OMCA will present ‘Spotlight Sundays: Total Praise—The Making of the Black Joy Parade’ at the James Moore Theater. The program includes:
- A performance by the acclaimed Black Joy Choir.
- A premiere screening of the documentary short ‘Total Praise: The Blueprint Behind the Black Joy Parade.’
- A conversation with Black Joy Parade producers reflecting on legacy, community, and joy.
This program is part of OMCA’s exhibition programming for ‘Black Spaces: Reclaim & Remain,’ on view through March 1, 2026.
