Emergency Landing at Elgin Golf Course
On the evening of February 4, 2026, a small private plane experienced mechanical issues and made an emergency landing at the Highlands of Elgin golf course. The Federal Aviation Administration notified Elgin police of the situation around 8:20 p.m. Emergency crews responded promptly, and the plane landed safely on the course. All occupants were evaluated at the scene and released without injury. The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified and will investigate the cause of the incident.
Elgin Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges
Simone Agresti, 41, of Elgin, was arrested earlier this week on 14 counts of child pornography. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office alleges that Agresti possessed and disseminated multiple videos of child pornography between March 1 and May 27, 2025. He was arrested at his home in Elgin and appeared in court the following day. Agresti is due back in court on June 13 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
Immigration Enforcement Operation in Elgin
On February 3, 2026, federal immigration enforcement agents were involved in a car crash in Elgin. A person in a different car ran away to a nearby apartment complex on Maple Lane. The confrontation led to agents tackling a person to detain them and using chemical irritants to try to disperse the crowd. Seven people had to be treated medically on scene. The incident has raised concerns among local residents and officials regarding the conduct of federal agents in the community.
