I-69 fatal crash: victim identified
The Allen County Coroner’s Office identified 84-year-old Fort Wayne resident Charles Anthony Hill Sr. as the person who died following an Interstate 69 crash near Goshen Road. The crash happened Feb. 16 in the northbound lanes; the coroner said the victim later died of injuries at a local hospital. The death was ruled accidental, and the crash investigation is ongoing.
Two northeast-side fires under investigation
Fire crews responded to two separate incidents over the weekend: one at an automotive repair shop on St. Joe Center Road and another at a home on Antebellum Boulevard. Officials reported no human injuries; in the house fire, one resident was rescued and two dogs were reported inside, with one later found dead and the other recovering. Investigators are working to determine what sparked both fires.
Fire services consolidation: first public hearing held
Allen County fire chiefs held an initial public hearing on a proposal to unify fire departments outside Fort Wayne.
