Fort Wayne gas and diesel prices dip from yesterday, but stay far above last week

Fort Wayne’s AAA fuel check shows regular gas at $4.776 and diesel at $6.021, both slightly lower than yesterday but far above recent benchmarks.

Fort Wayne drivers got a small break in AAA’s latest metro fuel check, but the bigger picture is still expensive. On May 7, 2026, the Fort Wayne metro average for regular gasoline was $4.776 a gallon, down 4 cents from yesterday. Diesel averaged $6.021, down 1.1 cents from yesterday.

Regular gas is still up 30.9 cents from a week ago, 69.9 cents from a month ago, and 162.9 cents from a year ago. For commuters, that can mean a larger weekly fuel bill even when the daily move looks small. Households and weekend travelers may want to combine errands, compare stations, and plan fill-ups with the current price level in mind.

Fort Wayne’s regular average is above Indiana’s statewide average of $4.722 and the U.S. average of $4.558.

Diesel is the sharper pressure point. At $6.021 a gallon, it is still above $6 in the Fort Wayne metro, and it is up 44.3 cents from a week ago, 60.9 cents from a month ago, and 245.1 cents from a year ago.

That matters for contractors, delivery drivers, restaurant supply runs, service fleets, and hauling work that burns diesel quickly. When diesel stays this high, the impact can show up first in operating budgets and later in delivery fees, service charges, or higher prices on the shelf.

Fort Wayne’s diesel average is also slightly above Indiana’s $5.992 and the U.S. average of $5.674.

The latest EIA weekly fuel update shows the national market is still elevated, but the local numbers are what Fort Wayne drivers feel at the pump.
