Garland Daily Local Brief: Election Day logistics, water disinfectant change, City Council meeting
Garland, TX – March 3, 2026 – Voting logistics shift back to precincts today; a free-chlorine water maintenance cycle begins; City Council meets tonight.
1) Election Day: expect precinct-based voting today
Primary Election Day is today, Tuesday, March 3, with polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In Dallas County, voting is back to a precinct-based setup for Election Day, so many residents who voted anywhere during early voting will need to go to their assigned location today.
County officials have urged voters to confirm their correct polling site before leaving home. Some locations may have staff helping redirect voters, and some sites may post QR codes to help people quickly look up where they should vote.
2) Water notice: temporary disinfectant change underway
Garland Water Utilities says the region’s wholesale water supplier is temporarily modifying its disinfection process from March 2 through March 30. During this maintenance period, the system switches to free chlorine (with ammonia suspended in the second stage of treatment).
The change is described as routine preventive maintenance. Some residents may notice a difference in taste or smell, and those who test water (including aquarium owners and certain medical device users) may want to review any recommended precautions for free-chlorine periods.
3) City calendar: Council and community meetings this week
Garland’s public meeting calendar shows a City Council work session on Monday, March 2, followed by the regular City Council meeting today, March 3. A Parks & Recreation board meeting follows on Wednesday, March 4, with additional advisory meetings later in the week.
On the community side, the city calendar also lists library programming for families and small-business workshops this week.
