Motorcyclist killed in Hwy 360 crash near Six Flags Drive
Arlington police say a 33-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene after a Monday evening collision in the northbound lanes of State Highway 360 near Six Flags Drive. Investigators said the rider was allegedly speeding and traveling between lanes before colliding with a vehicle changing lanes, then striking a second car and being ejected. Police said the other drivers remained at the scene and no charges were announced as of the March 3 update.
Public input meeting set for March 9 on transportation funding
A regional transportation meeting is scheduled for noon Monday, March 9, at 616 Six Flags Drive in Arlington, with online and phone participation options available. The agenda includes updates on zero-emission and electric-vehicle initiatives, stormwater infrastructure planning, and traffic-signal funding. Organizers said public comments will be accepted through April 7, including feedback on how a $60 million federal clean-vehicle grant would be used for heavy-duty vehicle replacement rebates in North Texas.
Free shredding and electronics recycling event announced for April 11
The city has announced a free drop-off event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the southeast corner of Mitchell Street and Cooper Street (UTA parking). Residents will need proof of Arlington residency, and trailers are not allowed. Paper shredding is limited to two banker-box sized boxes per vehicle and may end early if the truck fills. Accepted items include TVs, computers, small corded appliances, and batteries; large appliances and items with Freon will not be accepted.
