Milwaukee County opens new Center for Youth

Milwaukee County leaders marked the opening of the Milwaukee County Center for Youth (MCCY) near the Vel R. Phillips Youth & Family Justice Center, a new facility designed around treatment and education rather than long-term detention. County officials say the goal is to keep young people closer to home and connect them faster to behavioral health services, schooling, and family supports.

The opening comes as Wisconsin continues shifting youth justice away from large, remote institutions and toward smaller, community-based care. County officials say MCCY is intended to be a more trauma-informed setting, with space and programming aimed at stabilization and rehabilitation.

Anime Milwaukee returns to downtown for March 6–8

Anime Milwaukee is back at Baird Center and the adjacent downtown hotel venues through Sunday, bringing thousands of visitors for panels, gaming, cosplay, and vendor events.
