Little Fire near Pleasanton fully contained after Livermore-area response

The Little Fire near Pleasanton was fully contained Saturday, July 25, after forcing evacuations, threatening neighborhoods and powerlines, and mobilizing the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and other regional responders.

According to the CAL FIRE incident page, the fire began Tuesday, July 21, near Vallecitos Road and Little Valley Road in Sunol, within CAL FIRE’s jurisdiction. It reached 1,007 acres in Alameda County. CAL FIRE’s latest update lists the cause as under investigation.

Evacuations affected thousands near Pleasanton

The fire spread toward Pleasanton-area neighborhoods, including Ruby Hill, while threatening structures and powerlines. A July 23 joint release from the City of Pleasanton and Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department said mandatory evacuation orders covered five zones, displacing approximately 6,098 residents and affecting 1,906 homes and other structures.

Pleasanton activated its Emergency Operations Center and opened the Pleasanton Senior Center as an evacuation support center. The center was later deactivated. CAL FIRE reported that all evacuation orders were lifted on July 22, although containment work continued afterward.

Livermore-Pleasanton crews joined regional response

The response brought together CAL FIRE, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, Pleasanton police, Alameda County emergency personnel and other mutual-aid partners. Firefighters worked from the air and ground, while law enforcement and emergency staff supported evacuations, road closures and public notifications.

Officials said firefighters stopped the fire’s forward progress Tuesday night and protected nearly 2,000 homes and structures. CAL FIRE reported that one firefighter suffered minor injuries after an engine rollover and was later released from the hospital. KQED reported that no civilian injuries or building damage were reported.

What residents should still watch

Full containment means the fire perimeter is controlled; it does not mean that all monitoring, cleanup or investigative work has ended. CAL FIRE continues to list the cause as under investigation.

For future emergencies, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department advises residents to register for AC Alert, Alameda County’s mass-notification system, and use Genasys Protect to identify their evacuation zone and check incident status. Residents should keep multiple contact methods active, know more than one evacuation route, include pets and special-needs considerations in their plans, and follow official evacuation instructions promptly.
