Eden Prairie police facility reopens with new public lobby

The Eden Prairie Police Department has completed its move into remodeled space on the west side of City Center, and the department’s public lobby and reception area reopened for in-person services on July 16, 2026.

The move brings the department out of the lower level of City Center and into a redesigned facility while keeping its address and phone number unchanged. Residents can still reach the department at 8080 Mitchell Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55344, or by calling 952-949-6200.

Where residents should enter

Residents seeking in-person police services can enter from the City Center parking lot off Mitchell Road or from Scenic Heights Road near Fire Station 1.

The reopening applies to the public lobby and reception area. The city has not said that every part of the police facility is open for routine public access.

What changed inside the facility

The remodeled space includes expanded office and training areas, enhanced detention and evidence-processing areas, indoor vehicle storage, and updated technology. The improvements are part of the police department’s relocation within the larger City Center remodeling project.

The City Council dedicated the facility in June 2026, before the public-lobby opening on July 16. The dedication and the reopening were separate events.

Part of a larger City Center project

The police facility work is one element of the broader City Center remodeling project approved by the City Council in January 2025. At that time, the city estimated the project would cost approximately $26.5 million and said it would be financed through general-obligation bonds.

The $26.5 million figure was a 2025 estimate for the wider remodeling effort, not a final audited cost for the police facility alone. The city’s project announcement originally called for completion during summer 2026.

Public tour scheduled for October

Residents will have another opportunity to see portions of the facility during the citywide open house scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026. The city announcement says tours are expected to include parts of the detention area and evidence garage.

For routine police services, residents should use the public entrance on the west side of City Center. The department remains at 8080 Mitchell Road, and its phone number remains 952-949-6200.
