Eden Prairie Police Open New City Center Facility
The Eden Prairie Police Department has completed its move into a new facility on the west side of City Center, and residents can now use its public lobby and reception area for in-person services.
The city announced the opening July 16. The move changes the location where residents seeking in-person police services will be received, relocating the department from its previous City Center space to the west side of the complex.
Public lobby is now open
The public-facing portion of the new facility is open, according to the City of Eden Prairie. That includes the lobby and reception area for residents who need in-person assistance from the department.
The announcement confirms that the departmentโs move has been completed. The cityโs notice did not list separate public-opening hours or describe changes to the types of services available at the reception area.
For residents, the immediate practical change is the departmentโs new west-side City Center location. People planning an in-person police visit should use the new facility rather than the departmentโs former City Center space.
Move follows a broader remodel
The relocation was part of a broader police remodel. In January, Eden Prairie Local News reported that the work was expected to finish in summer 2026, with plans to move the department to the west side of City Center, expand staff space and add a garage for emergency vehicles.
The July 16 announcement places the completed move within that expected summer timeline. The cityโs notice specifically confirms the department is operating from the new facility and that its public lobby and reception area have opened.
The available reports do not provide a final construction cost or total square footage for the project. They also do not identify a formal completion date for every remaining interior or site element. The confirmed public-facing milestone is the opening of the lobby and reception area after the departmentโs move.
A larger department than when it first moved to City Center
The remodel and relocation come after substantial growth in the police departmentโs staffing. Eden Prairie Local News reported in January that the department had grown from about 30 officers when it first moved to City Center to more than 100 officers in 2026.
That growth provides context for the projectโs expanded staff space. The prior report also described a planned garage for emergency vehicles, elements tied to moving department operations into the new west-side facility.
The reports do not say that the move itself will result in additional hiring, and the city has not characterized the facility as a new police headquarters. The confirmed change is the departmentโs relocation into a larger, remodeled City Center space designed to accommodate its current operations.
What happens next
The next confirmed step is continued operation of the new lobby and facility. Residents seeking in-person police services now have access to the public reception area at the departmentโs new west-side City Center location.
The opening marks the public completion of a significant transition for a department whose staffing has increased by more than threefold since it first moved into City Center. The cityโs July announcement establishes that the new facility is now the place for in-person public contact with Eden Prairie police.
