Eastvale’s ZIP code push gains state backing, but Congress must act
California has formally backed Eastvale’s effort to obtain an independent ZIP code, giving the city a stronger advocacy position but not changing anyone’s mailing address.
Senate Joint Resolution 11 was chaptered as Chapter 98 and filed with the California Secretary of State on June 15, 2026. The City of Eastvale announced the state action on July 15.
What the state resolution does
SJR 11 urges the president and Congress to approve legislation authorizing Eastvale to receive its own ZIP code. It is a nonbinding advocacy resolution, not a federal authorization. It does not direct the U.S. Postal Service to create or assign a ZIP code.
That distinction matters because Eastvale’s current addresses remain in effect. The city shares ZIP code 91752 with Jurupa Valley and ZIP code 92880 with Corona and other nearby jurisdictions.
Residents and businesses should continue using the ZIP code assigned to their address unless the Postal Service or another authorized federal process announces a change.
Why Eastvale wants a separate ZIP code
California legislative materials and city documents describe concerns tied to the way shared ZIP codes can identify Eastvale addresses. The city’s stated concerns include municipality identification, resident and business records, mapping systems, insurance databases, public records and local economic or demographic data.
The city and legislative materials say the effects can vary by database, agency or service. The resolution records those concerns as part of Eastvale’s case for federal action; it does not establish that every resident or business experiences the same problems.
Where the federal bills stand
The main federal vehicle, H.R. 672, would require the Postal Service to designate a single, unique ZIP code for Eastvale and other covered communities. The House passed the bill on July 21, 2025. On July 22, 2025, it was received in the Senate and referred to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
A separate Eastvale-specific bill, H.R. 1225, would direct the Postal Service to designate a unique ZIP code for the city. Congress.gov lists that bill as introduced and referred to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on February 12, 2025.
Neither federal measure has become law, and neither has resulted in a new Eastvale ZIP code.
The practical bottom line
Eastvale now has a formal California-backed position urging Congress to act. That gives the city another step in its long-running campaign, but the key decision remains federal.
Until Congress approves an applicable measure and the Postal Service implements it, Eastvale residents, property owners and businesses should use their existing 91752 or 92880 ZIP codes. The next developments to watch are movement on H.R. 672 in the Senate and any action on H.R. 1225 in the House.
