California backs Eastvale’s push for an independent ZIP code

California has adopted a resolution supporting Eastvale’s effort to obtain an independent ZIP code, giving the city’s long-running campaign a formal state endorsement but not changing its mailing boundaries.

Eastvale announced the development July 15, 2026. The city currently uses two ZIP codes: 91752 and 92880. Both are shared with other jurisdictions, which Eastvale says can create problems for addresses, identification and reported insurance-rating differences.

How Eastvale’s ZIP codes are divided

ZIP code 92880 is shared by Eastvale, Chino and Corona, along with small portions of unincorporated Riverside and Orange counties. The city says residents and businesses in that ZIP code can list Eastvale as the city name on their addresses.

The city identifies 91752 as a separate unresolved issue. That ZIP code represents the former Mira Loma area shared between Eastvale and Jurupa Valley. As a result, residents connected with Eastvale may have an address that does not clearly match the city where they live or operate.

Those overlapping designations matter beyond how an address appears on an envelope. Eastvale says shared ZIP codes have contributed to challenges involving address identification and reported mismatches in insurance premiums or ratings. The city’s campaign seeks a ZIP code that would identify Eastvale independently rather than continuing to associate portions of the city with neighboring communities or former place names.

State support is not the final step

The California resolution adds state-level support to Eastvale’s request. It does not, by itself, create an independent ZIP code or alter the U.S. Postal Service’s ZIP-code boundaries.

Eastvale says federal action is still required. The city’s advocacy materials point to three federal measures: H.R. 672, H.R. 1225 and S. 1455. According to the city, H.R. 672 addresses ZIP-code challenges in multiple communities, while H.R. 1225 specifically addresses Eastvale. The city also says the U.S. House unanimously passed H.R. 672 on July 21, 2025.

That House vote was a step in the federal process, but Eastvale has not received an independent ZIP code as a result. The city’s materials continue to identify federal legislation as necessary before the requested change can be completed.

What happens next

For now, Eastvale residents and businesses will continue using 91752 or 92880, depending on their location. The immediate change is political support from California, not a new mailing designation.

The next significant step is federal action on the legislation identified by the city. A projected date for that action has not been announced. Until Congress approves the necessary measure and the federal postal process moves forward, Eastvale’s ZIP-code situation remains divided between the two existing designations.

The state resolution nevertheless gives the city a formal endorsement to cite as it continues seeking a designation that would more clearly match Eastvale’s municipal identity.
