Fort Wayne Gas and Diesel Prices Jump Again as Diesel Reaches $5.42

The figures are metro averages, not the price at every station in Fort Wayne, but they show another day of higher fuel costs for drivers and commercial operators.
Regular gas rises 6.4 cents in a day
AAA’s Fort Wayne metro average for regular gasoline increased 6.4 cents from the previous day’s $3.616. The average is also 10.4 cents higher than it was a week earlier.
Compared with the previous month, regular gas is up 56 cents per gallon. The year-over-year increase is 34.2 cents. For a driver filling a 15-gallon tank, that difference would amount to about $5.13 more than at the same point last year, before accounting for differences between individual stations.
Diesel reaches $5.417 per gallon
Diesel rose 4.5 cents from the previous day’s $5.372 average. The increase is more pronounced over longer comparison periods: diesel is up 39.3 cents from a week earlier and 50.3 cents from a month earlier.
Diesel is now $1.538 higher than it was a year ago. For a vehicle with a 25-gallon tank, that annual price difference represents roughly $38.45 more for a full fill-up than a year earlier, using the AAA metro averages.
Indiana and broader fuel context
AAA listed Indiana’s statewide averages at $3.628 per gallon for regular gasoline and $5.347 for diesel on July 31. Those statewide figures provide context but should not be treated as Fort Wayne station prices.
In a July 30 national fuel update, AAA said pump prices remained elevated as crude oil prices stayed in the $80-per-barrel range amid instability along the Strait of Hormuz. AAA also noted that Indiana remained among the least-expensive gasoline markets nationally. The Energy Information Administration’s latest Midwest benchmarks provide additional regional context, but they do not replace the Fort Wayne-specific metro averages.
What higher fuel costs may mean locally
Higher regular-gas prices can add to weekly expenses for commuters, households and weekend travelers. The sharper diesel increase is more directly relevant to delivery operators, contractors, landscapers, farmers and other businesses that depend on work trucks or equipment.
Fuel is only one part of operating costs, so the effect will vary by business and vehicle. Still, sustained increases can put pressure on delivery, construction, restaurant and service-business expenses, even when companies do not immediately change prices.
