Temecula Gas Check: Costco Listings Diverge on Regular and Diesel
Current online listings for the Costco gas station at 26610 Ynez Road in Temecula disagree on both regular gasoline and diesel prices, giving drivers two different snapshots before they pull up to the pump.
Costco’s official warehouse page lists regular gasoline at $5.29 per gallon and diesel at $6.69 as of the August 5 check. An independent station listing for the same location shows $5.40 for regular and $6.50 for diesel, with those prices marked as updated minutes before the page was checked.
Regular gasoline is lower on Costco’s official listing
The official Costco price puts regular gasoline 11 cents below the $5.40 listed in the previous same-site check on July 31. The independent listing, however, still shows regular at $5.40, so the safest description is that current online listings place regular gasoline at roughly $5.29 to $5.40 per gallon at the Temecula warehouse.
That difference matters for drivers filling larger tanks, but it should not be treated as proof that every pump at the station is displaying one specific price. Costco says its online prices are updated frequently and may not match the price posted at the pump when a purchase is made.
Diesel movement remains unclear
Diesel prices are even harder to characterize. Costco’s official listing shows $6.69 per gallon, while the independent listing shows $6.50. The $6.50 independent figure matches the previous same-site check, but the official listing is 19 cents higher than that earlier comparison.
Because the current sources conflict, the available data does not establish whether diesel has risen, fallen or remained flat since July 31. Diesel drivers, contractors, delivery operators and service businesses should confirm the pump price before making a special trip.
AAA Riverside averages provide broader context
AAA’s Riverside-area table lists a current average of $5.5909 for regular gasoline and $6.9945 for diesel. The regular average was $5.6060 the previous day and $5.5897 one week earlier. Diesel was $7.0089 the previous day and $6.9502 one week earlier.
Those figures are Riverside-area averages, not a Temecula-wide average. They show that both current Costco listings are below the broader Riverside diesel average, while the listed regular prices are also below the Riverside regular average.
Why the station-level difference matters
For a commuter, an 11-cent difference on a 15-gallon fill-up is about $1.65. For a contractor, delivery driver or service business buying substantially more fuel, even small price differences can add up across several vehicles and multiple trips.
Weekend travelers and households planning longer drives may also benefit from checking nearby stations before leaving. The City of Temecula says gasoline prices can vary by as much as 20% within only a few blocks and directs motorists to local price-comparison resources.
The Costco and independent listings should therefore be treated as online reference points rather than guaranteed pump prices. Check the posted price at the station before fueling, especially when diesel prices do not match across sources.
