Casper school, college and district candidate filing opens Aug. 5
Candidate filing opens Wednesday, Aug. 5, for Casper-area school board, Casper College and special-district offices scheduled for the Nov. 3, 2026, general election.
The filing window runs through Monday, Aug. 24. The deadline is separate from the Tuesday, Aug. 18, primary election, and the countyโs proclamation does not identify candidates in the records used for this article.
Eight education seats are open
Natrona Countyโs 2026 election proclamation lists four four-year seats on the Natrona County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees and four four-year seats on the Casper College Board of Trustees.
Those seats are listed among the nonpartisan offices to be elected at the general election. For residents considering service on a school or college board, Aug. 24 is the filing deadline to track.
Special-district openings
The proclamation also lists these Natrona County special-district openings:
- Two four-year rural trustee seats on the Natrona County Conservation District.
- Two four-year director seats on the Natrona County Fire District.
- Two four-year director seats on the Casper Mountain Fire Protection District.
- Two Casper Mountain Fire Protection District director seats for two-year unexpired terms.
- Three four-year director seats on the Natrona County Senior Citizenโs Service District.
The Casper Mountain positions include both regular four-year seats and two-year unexpired seats. Prospective candidates should confirm the applicable term and filing requirements with the Elections Office.
Where candidates file
According to the countyโs candidate-information page, completed filing forms may be mailed or emailed to the Elections Office. Mail completed forms with applicable fees to:
Natrona County Clerk
200 N. Center St., Room 154
Casper, WY 82601
Candidates who email their forms must contact the Elections Office and pay by credit card. Payment must be received before an emailed application is processed.
The Elections Office can be reached at 307-235-9217 with questions about forms, fees and filing requirements.
How the dates fit together
The countyโs Important Election Dates page lists Aug. 5 through Aug. 24 for college and school boards, fire districts and soil conservation districts. The Wyoming Secretary of Stateโs 2026 election calendar identifies the same period as candidate filing for school, college and special-district offices.
Tuesday, Aug. 18, is the statewide primary election. Tuesday, Nov. 3, is the general election. Residents should not assume that every school, college or special-district filing will appear on the Aug. 18 primary ballot; Natrona Countyโs proclamation lists these offices for election at the Nov. 3 general election.
Residents interested in serving on a school board, the Casper College board or a covered special district should review the countyโs filing information and contact the Elections Office early enough to complete any payment and processing steps before the Aug. 24 deadline.
