Pasadena Seeks Contractor for Preston Park Phase 1

The City of Pasadena has opened the contractor-selection process for the first phase of Preston Park development, issuing a request for proposals from qualified and experienced contractors.

The solicitation places the city’s current estimated construction window between Oct. 1, 2026, and Aug. 1, 2027. Those dates are planning estimates in the procurement record, not confirmation that construction has begun or that the city has selected a contractor.

For Pasadena residents, the notice is a concrete step toward development of the public park. It moves Phase 1 into the competitive procurement process and provides the city’s present schedule for delivering that portion of the project.

City is seeking proposals for Phase 1

The procurement document is titled “Preston Park Development — Phase 1” and was issued by the City of Pasadena, Texas. It asks qualified contractors to submit proposals for the project.

A request for proposals begins the process of evaluating firms for a city contract. It does not itself identify the successful bidder or establish that a contract has been awarded.

The available procurement material does not confirm an award for Preston Park Phase 1. It also does not state the project’s total construction value, leaving both the eventual contractor and the cost of the work unconfirmed in the current public record.

That distinction is important for tracking the project’s status. Pasadena has initiated a procurement step, but the available notice does not establish a final contract, a selected firm or active work at the park.

Construction dates remain estimates

The solicitation lists Oct. 1, 2026, as the estimated start date and Aug. 1, 2027, as the estimated completion date. If the project proceeds on that timetable, Phase 1 would run for about 10 months between the listed dates.

Separate Convention Center opportunity appeared in July

Pasadena’s bid-opportunities page also listed Bid 26-022, a separate solicitation for electrical engineering services for the Pasadena Convention Center parking lot. The city listed that bid period from July 8 through July 27, 2026.

That engineering-services opportunity is not part of the Preston Park Phase 1 contractor request. It is a separate city procurement item involving the Convention Center parking lot.

Together, the listings show Pasadena using its public bidding process for distinct public-facility needs. For Preston Park, however, the key development remains the open request for contractor proposals and the estimated construction window attached to the Phase 1 solicitation.

Residents following the park project should look for a subsequent contract award or city update before treating the projected October start as final. The current record supports a planned delivery window, but not a confirmed construction start, final cost or contractor.
