Carmel-by-the-Sea scheduled micro-surfacing for 10 village street segments

The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea scheduled micro-surfacing on 10 named street segments for July 6 and July 7, giving residents, workers, businesses and visitors the city’s stated timetable for pavement work and related access effects on village streets.

The schedule appeared in a city update dated July 2, 2026. The work is part of Carmel-by-the-Sea’s conglomerate paving project. The city said any streets not completed on July 6 would be micro-surfaced on July 7.

Where the work was scheduled

The notice listed Ocean Avenue from Highway 1 to Hatton Avenue; Flanders Avenue from Vizcaino Street to Crespi Avenue; Forest Road from Ocean Avenue to Seventh Avenue; Santa Rita Street from First Avenue to the northern city limits; and Dolores Street from Second Avenue to Vista Avenue.

The other named street segments were Monterey Street, Vizcaino Avenue, Perry Newberry Way, Pine Ridge Way and Torres Street. In total, the notice identified 10 street segments within Carmel-by-the-Sea.

For people traveling to homes, businesses and other destinations along those routes, the July 6-7 schedule identified when the city expected pavement work to affect local access and traffic movement. The city’s update did not establish that every segment would be completed on the first scheduled day; instead, it set July 7 as the continuation date for unfinished July 6 work.
