Editorial Standards, Ethics and Corrections

Interactive News by 111Things publishes sourced local, state, U.S. and world news. Our goal is to make current information easier to verify, understand and explore.

Publishing Principles

We lead with the strongest verified development and explain why it matters now. Reporting should distinguish confirmed facts from allegations, proposals, estimates, opinions and inference. A proposal is not described as enacted policy, an allegation is not described as a finding, and a forecast is not described as an observed result.

Whenever practical, reporting favors primary and authoritative sources such as public records, court documents, official data, regulatory filings and direct source material. Reputable original reporting may provide additional context and corroboration.

Sourcing and Verification

Articles are built from source packets that retain the evidence used for the story. Published articles may include a linked Sources section so readers can inspect the underlying material. Disputed or consequential claims should receive stronger corroboration and clear attribution.

Location-specific reporting must establish a real connection to the city, state or community named in the article. The newsroom also uses duplicate checks to reduce repeated coverage of the same underlying event.

AI-Assisted News Production

111Things uses AI-assisted systems for news discovery, source comparison, source-packet preparation, drafting, classification, duplicate screening and structured validation. Automation does not replace the requirement for evidence. The system is designed to keep unsupported claims out of finished articles and to retain source information for review and correction.

Editorial policies, publishing rules and system configuration are maintained by the publisher. Articles can be corrected, updated, withheld or removed when warranted.

Ethics Policy

Accuracy takes priority over speed. 111Things does not knowingly fabricate facts, quotations, sources, events or evidence. Straight-news coverage should avoid deceptive framing, sensationalism, undisclosed promotional copy and partisan advocacy. Sources and claims are attributed when attribution is material to understanding the story.

Privacy, safety and public-interest considerations should be weighed when reporting on individuals. The newsroom aims to avoid unnecessary exposure of private information that is not relevant to the public-interest purpose of a story.

Corrections Policy

Material factual errors should be corrected promptly when identified. A correction may update the headline, body, dates, figures, attribution, source links or other metadata. When a change materially alters the reader’s understanding of a story, the article should make the correction clear. Articles may be removed when correction is not sufficient or when publication should not continue.

Readers who believe an article contains an error can use the site contact information to identify the article and the specific statement that should be reviewed.

Transparency and Feedback
