Kaufman County sets Aug. 5 meeting for hazard-mitigation plan update

Kaufman County and participating local jurisdictions have begun updating the county’s Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. A public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, as the county and its partners continue the planning process.

The update is being coordinated with local jurisdictions and community partners, including the City of Kaufman. The plan is intended to guide hazard-mitigation planning across the jurisdictions taking part in the effort, rather than address a single project or location.

For Kaufman and other participating communities, the planning process may help shape how officials prepare for and prioritize measures addressing hazards such as flooding, severe weather and infrastructure disruption. Those hazards can affect public facilities, roads, neighborhoods and other local infrastructure, making the countywide coordination relevant to residents and local governments.

The Aug. 5 public meeting is the next known step in the update. Kaufman County’s official plan page identifies the meeting date and describes the coordination with local jurisdictions and community partners. The county’s news page also carried an Aug. 4, 2026, update in its planning and development area and serves as the county’s public-notice channel for actions affecting local jurisdictions.
