Clovis Plans Police Dispatch Center Near Loma Vista Fire Station
Clovis is planning a new police dispatch center beside Fire Station 6 in Loma Vista, adding public-safety infrastructure near an area planned for substantial housing, commercial development and employment growth.
The proposed facility would be built at the northwest corner of Loma Vista Parkway and Encino Avenue. It is planned as a one-story building measuring 4,113 square feet on 0.58 acres next to the fire station and other public facilities.
The project remains a proposal, not an approved or funded construction project. As of July 6, the city had not received an estimated construction cost. The item was expected to be presented to the Clovis City Council in August.
What the facility would include
The design calls for open office space, a training room, break rooms and an exterior patio. The center is designed to accommodate 14 staff members and one supervisor.
Locating the dispatch operation next to Fire Station 6 would place two public-safety facilities together in the Loma Vista area. The proposal would expand dispatch capacity in a part of Clovis where city planning documents envision more homes, residents, businesses and workers.
The available project details do not establish a construction schedule. The city also had not disclosed an estimated cost as of July 6, leaving both the financial scope and timing of the project unsettled ahead of the expected council presentation.
Planned growth shapes the proposal
City planning documents describe the potential scale of development surrounding the proposed center. At full buildout, the plans cite about 10,714 housing units and approximately 29,000 residents.
The projections also include six million square feet of nonresidential development and about 13,000 workers. Those figures describe the possible scale of the area’s planned development. They do not set a fixed timetable for construction or guarantee that all of the projected growth will occur.
That planning backdrop helps explain the proposed location. A larger residential and employment base would increase the importance of public-safety services in and around Loma Vista. A dispatch center there could keep that function close to the neighborhoods, commercial areas and public facilities expected in the surrounding plan area.
The proposal also fits within broader city budget priorities. Clovis’ 2025-26 annual budget identifies public safety and infrastructure as major priorities and provides context for the city’s staffing and capital-planning needs. The budget does not, however, establish final approval or funding for this specific dispatch center.
What happens next
The next identified step is a presentation to the Clovis City Council in August. Council action would determine whether and how the proposal moves forward.
Until that review occurs, the dispatch center remains in the planning stage. The size, location and proposed staffing are defined, but the project’s construction cost, schedule and final authorization have not been established.
