St. George Seeks Proposals for Former City Hall Police Campus
St. George has opened a formal proposal process to convert its former City Hall into a police station and operations center, advancing a plan to reuse the downtown municipal building for public-safety operations.
The work is identified as the SGPD Campus Project under RFP 26-294. It covers renovation and additions to the existing two-story building at 265 N. 200 East, the former City Hall location in St. George.
Contractors must submit proposals by 2 p.m. MDT on July 2, 2026. The city also scheduled a mandatory pre-bid meeting for June 23, giving prospective bidders a required opportunity to review the project before submitting proposals.
What the request covers
The request is for work on an existing public building, not a proposal identified as construction of an entirely new police facility. The planned project combines remodeling of the former City Hall with additions to the structure.
St. George has described the intended use as a police station or police operations center. The SGPD name connects the project to the St. George Police Department, although the public project description does not establish whether every police function would move to the site.
The city’s 2026 State of the City discussion also identified remodeling the old City Hall as a summer 2026 plan. The procurement schedule adds specific dates to that broader plan, with the pre-bid meeting and proposal deadline now set.
Why the project matters
Converting the former City Hall would put a municipal facility back into use for police operations and direct city capital investment toward public-safety infrastructure. The renovation and additions could provide space for police functions in a campus organized around the former City Hall site.
The address gives residents a specific location to follow as the city moves through the procurement process. It also makes the project distinct from a general planning announcement: the city has defined a scope of renovation and addition work and established a deadline for contractor proposals.
At this stage, however, the RFP represents a request for proposals rather than a completed construction decision. The proposal deadline does not by itself identify a selected contractor, a contract value or a construction completion date.
What happens next
